Whitfield Architects is an independent architecture firm based in Cheadle, on the border of Manchester and Cheshire. We serve clients in our local area and occasionally further afield in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, and the Lake District. We're a RIBA Chartered Practice with experience of a diverse range of architectural requirements, from beautifully bespoke house designs, restorations, and extensions, to heritage projects and commercial developments.
Our Background and Expertise
Our team, led by Mark Whitfield and Liane Baddeley, has considerable professional experience with architectural design and related legal approvals. We've also been very hands-on with our own building projects, from demolition and digging drains, to plumbing and joinery. Mark, a chartered architect with nearly 20 years' experience, has worked on a wide range of projects, including restoring listed buildings and designing sports facilities, supermarkets, and office schemes. Liane has a great deal of direct experience with renovation and design, as well as a lifelong interest in buildings. Her professional background is in business, marketing, and journalism.

Our Process
Our process is designed to ensure that your project is completed efficiently and effectively. We begin with a consultation to discuss your project requirements, then move on to the design phase, where we provide creative ideas, layout options, external drawings, and 3D visuals. We'll then support you through the planning process, including submitting applications and responding to any objections. Once planning permission is granted, we'll assist with building regulations, technical drawings, and specifications, as well as liaison with structural engineers. Finally, we'll provide pre-construction support, including build costing and quotations, builder selection, and contract advice.

Our projects range from kitchen extensions and larger extensions to house transformations, loft conversions, garage conversions, annexes, and garden rooms.
