HomeSmiths Interior Design, based in West Sussex, is a family-run practice specializing in interior design for care and retirement living. Founded in 2001 by David and Jacqui Smith, we have extensive experience in creating supportive and inclusive environments for people living with sensory and cognitive decline. Our expertise includes dementia care design, focusing on colour contrast, lighting design, furniture layout, colour choice, and acoustic consideration to ensure spaces that are both comfortable and stimulating.

As dementia care design specialists, we understand the importance of creating spaces that enable individuals to live independently for as long as possible. Our services range from design concepts to full project specification and fit-out. We have worked on various projects, including new builds and refurbishments in Residential, Nursing, and Dementia Care, Extra Care, Assisted Living, Sheltered Housing, and Hospices across the South of England.

Meet The Team

Jacqui Smith, our Director, is a specialist in design for sensory and cognitive decline, with a keen eye for colour and detail. She is a professional member of SBID and has completed courses with Stirling University and Hammond Care. Jacqui is also an experienced healthcare designer and has given talks to Universities and events on dementia friendly design. David Smith, also a Director, brings a practical background in furniture making, providing invaluable on-site management and CAD resource. He has won several awards for his craftsmanship, including the 'Guildmark of the Year' in 1990. Jenna Gale, our Project Co-ordinator, handles administrative tasks, freeing up time for the design team and ensuring projects run smoothly.
