At AB Lighting, we are a creative technical solutions company that provides lighting, sound, audio-visual, and special effects to corporate events, weddings, and theatre productions in the UK and worldwide. Founded by director Andy Bird in 2007, our company has built a reputation for creative innovation and professional excellence across the events and entertainment spectrum.

Our Story

Our journey began with a passion for technical operation and design. Andy, our founder, developed his skills as a schoolboy by assisting with lighting in school shows and experimenting with different lighting equipment. By the age of 17, he was working as a follow spot operator on The Buddy Holly Story at The Strand Theatre in London. Inspired by London's West End productions, Andy began exploring the possibilities of technical design in small-scale, local theatre.

However, he soon found that his work was limited by cost restrictions necessary for community theatre to survive. To overcome this, Andy invested in his own high-end technical equipment and began hiring it to these productions at a fraction of the cost. This new creative freedom allowed him to provide professional-level technical design in situations where it would otherwise be impossible to achieve. And so, AB Lighting was born.
