Welcome to S.G.Ellis Electrical Contractors Ltd, a company with a rich history dating back to 1966 when our founder, Stanley G. Ellis, left the Yorkshire Electricity Board to start his own business. Over the years, we have grown and developed into a renowned organization known for our reliability, rapid responses, and exceptional customer service.
Our Origins
We take immense pride in our heritage, which has been shaped by the dedication and hard work of our team members. Our journey began when Stanley Ellis, after 21 years of service with Yorkshire Electricity Board, decided to venture out on his own. With the support of his father, Harold Ellis, who had also worked at the YEB, Stanley had the necessary knowledge and expertise to establish a thriving electrical contracting business.
Growth and Expansion
As the company grew, we expanded our services to meet the diverse needs of our customers. In 1968, we became a limited company, and our name was officially changed to S.G.Ellis (Electrical Contractors) Ltd. This marked the beginning of our journey as a limited company, which has enabled us to scale new heights and expand our operations.

Our History
Throughout our history, we have received numerous accreditations and certifications, including membership of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors (NICEIC). Over the years, we have expanded our services, and in 2012, we added a plumbing and gas division. In 2017, we introduced a new joinery department, and in 2018, we launched a commercial door service.
