At Elliston Steady & Hawes, we are proud to be a family-run business with a rich history spanning over sixty years. Founded in 1956 by Ronald Elliston, Ronald Steady, and Stanley Hawes, our company has evolved from a small family building business to a reputable and established construction firm. Throughout our journey, we have remained committed to delivering exceptional building and construction services, built on a foundation of quality workmanship, dedication, and customer satisfaction.

Our company is divided into two core divisions: Construction and Specialist Architectural Aluminium Systems. These two areas have enabled us to build an extensive portfolio of projects, including residential and commercial properties, for local authorities, hospitals, housing associations, schools, and various businesses. Our expertise in these areas has allowed us to develop bespoke solutions, maximising the budget at all times, and delivering on our promises from initial client meeting to final project sign-off.

Our Construction division has been involved in numerous prestigious projects across the south and east of the UK, including the construction of new developments, such as the Lidl supermarket in Ipswich, dementia-friendly accommodation for the Jockey Club in Newmarket, and various housing projects for Housing Associations and Private Clients. We have also worked on projects for local health authorities and Suffolk and Essex County Councils.

Elliston Steady & Hawes (Aluminium) Ltd specialises in the design, fabrication, and installation of high-quality aluminium systems for windows, doors, screen framing, and curtain walling. The majority of our work utilises extruded aluminium produced by Kawneer, a recognised leader in the field. Our portfolio includes some of the most prestigious buildings in the south and east of the UK, encompassing all types of window, door, screen framing, and curtain walling, alongside specialist knowledge of sloped roof glazing, structural silicone glazing, and blast-enhanced systems.

Our Company History

ESH was founded on the principles of delivering competitively priced, excellent work and providing customer service that is second to none. Over the past sixty years, we have grown and developed our range of building services to both the residential and commercial markets. In the 1980s, our Specialist Aluminium division was developed to provide architectural products for both in-house contracts and as a specialist sub-contractor for other local companies. This division has grown steadily and now comprises a major part of the company's activity.

In 2018, we acquired a majority shareholding in successful local building firm, Heronbuild. This addition to the company was made with the future in mind, enabling us to expand our services and capabilities.

At the heart of ESH is a family-run business, managed by Daniel Elliston and Mark Phillips, who between them have over sixty years of experience in the company. Daniel Elliston studied Management Science at Southampton University and graduated in 2000. He joined the family firm full-time and has since held various positions, including Contracts Manager. Mark Phillips studied Building Management and Quantity Surveying at Suffolk College and Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and qualified as a Chartered Builder and Chartered Surveyor. He has worked for ESH for over thirty years, overseeing the company's operations and management.
