Film Optics is a leading UK-based company specialising in the design, development, and manufacture of micron scale surface structured optical films. Our expertise lies in creating novel and complex structures to meet specific client needs, utilising a reel to reel, UV casting process that reproduces micro structures with extreme accuracy at high speed and low cost. With an in-house, state of the art, manufacturing facility and extensive design and testing resources, we offer a fully comprehensive service from initial optical design consultancy through to commercial scale manufacturing.

Services

At Film Optics, we provide a wide range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our services include:

*Optical Design Consultancy: We offer consultancy and optical design input into the process of new luminaire design, utilising our extensive experience of developing solutions for optical challenges gained in a number of complimentary fields including display unit and back light unit design.

*Bespoke Optical Structures: We develop bespoke optical structures to meet specific customer needs, providing a clear advantage in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Our optical structures can be produced and supplied on a variety of film substrates or laminated onto rigid, flat sheets.

*Functional Films: We offer a range of functional films, including High Efficiency Diffusers, Lenticular Diffusers, Light Control Film, Light Turning Film, Batwing Diffuser Film, Light Deflecting Film, and Micro-lens Arrays. These films can be made on a clear base film, patterned to create random microstructures on the film surface, and defract the light as it passes through the film, creating an effective diffuser without any light loss.

*Lenticular Films for Printing: We offer a range of standard lenticular films or sheets suitable for medium and large format printers using laser, ink-jet or offset printers. These films can be used to make both 3D displays and flip animations.

Products

Our products are found in a broad spectrum of markets, including lenticular diffusers and turning films for lighting, Fresnel lenses for use in CPV plants, and films for displays and OLEDs. Our product range includes:

*Lenticular Diffusers: Used to homogenise LED strip lights and remove 'hot spots'. We can provide lenticular diffusing film in continuous reels and cut to the width of your luminaire. This film is also particularly well suited for use in machine vision applications where a uniform strip of light is required.

*Light Control Film: This film has the unique characteristic of being either reflective or transmissive depending on the angle that lights hits the film. It is typically used to produce homogenised light output along a linear luminaire.

*Light Turning Film: Used to alter output beam angle in one direction. The turning angle can also be varied according to position - similar to a linear Fresnel lens - to either focus light to a line, collimate it, or disperse it.

*Batwing Diffuser Film: Many of our films can be combined in order to create a variety of functions, such as a Batwing Diffuser made by combining our SPF90/160 film with a diffuser.

*Light Deflecting Film: Uses Total Internal Reflection (TIR) to deflect light through 90 degrees.

*Micro-lens Arrays: Used to remove the effects of chromatic aberration and soften beam edges.

*Decorative or Artistic Applications: Many of our films can also be used to create stunning visual effects - either singularly or in combination.
