We’re here to do the best work we can and take care of our people while doing it. Andy wants to continually improve our knowledge, services and ways of working so we can do better for our people, clients and their projects.
He combines pragmatism and technical ability with relentless curiosity and ingenuity to add value throughout the design process, from that initial sketch to solving problems on site. And he's passionate about collaboration – real collaboration. Because it's only by working with the people who will be using the buildings for years to come that we will leave the built environment better than we found it.

An introduction to the design of Streatham and Marlborough Cricket Club.
We recently visited our cricket pavilion project in Dulwich to chat with the fabulous David Taylor about some of the ideas and decisions that went into the making of it.
The project is nearing completion and we’re looking forward to sharing more once the final photos are completed. An opening party is imminent also, we can’t wait!

We worked with Andy Matthews Studio as architects on our flat renovation in Camberwell, and thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Andy and the team.
Despite the limited budget, their scope of work was a full redesign of the kitchen, dining area and bathroom, whilst also helping us maximise the space in the living room, hallway and bedrooms. Andy managed to tease out what we truly wanted for the space and how it could work for our family, whilst introducing us to exciting options and ideas we hadn’t considered.
Andy and Christopher were approachable, friendly and genuinely easy to work with. We looked forward to discussing problems with them, and knew that they always prioritised what was right for our family in their recommendations. They took the time to understand what we wanted, and when we were unsure or stuck with decisions, they offered clear and sensible guidance that helped us move forward. Their approach always felt supportive rather than directive.
Communication was excellent throughout. We had frequent catch ups, and they were always approachable in between. They shared materials, drawings and ideas openly, which made the whole process feel collaborative. Whenever we were stuck, we knew we could turn to them for guidance rather than generative AI. They worked carefully within our budget, but still brought fresh ideas that helped us rethink the space and get much more out of what we already had.
We are really pleased with the outcome. The flat feels modernised and refreshed, but still practical and comfortable and in the spirit of its 1950's build. It has been transformed into a place we genuinely look forward to coming home to. AMS maximised what we had and helped us see its potential. We’re hopeful we can work with them in the future, but definitely need a rest before taking on the next project! Thank you guys!

Very happy with Andy Matthews and co's work so far. We are at the tender stage (RIBA stage 4) with our house and I have just finished reviewing a beautiful set of highly-detailed plans.
We've been through a number of design iterations, incorporating feedback preferences from us, as well as thoughtful insights from the team on how to make the design more effective. We've had plenty of on-site visits and they've been snappy at responding and keeping us up to date with their progress.
They've come up with something I think we'll really love, and it's been an enjoyable journey getting to this point.
