At Acoustic Architecture, we are a team of experienced professionals dedicated to creating inspiring and functional spaces for performance, creative studios, and academic institutions. Our journey began with a passion for crafting highly functional and inspirationally beautiful spaces for music and education. Over the years, we have expanded our services to cater to clients in the film, television, and private residential sectors.

Our Approach

At the heart of our approach is a deep understanding of real sound. Drawing on decades of experience in live and production music mixing and mastering, we craft sound to bring out every nuance and transient with stunning clarity in the design of the room(s). This approach guides our choice of materials and helps us deliver spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally effective.

Meet Our Team

Directed by Alec Boulton and Jeff Smith, our team brings together a wealth of expertise in acoustics, architecture, and music. Alec's extensive experience as a recording engineer, producer, composer, writer, and music technology teacher has given him a unique perspective on creating music in highly functional and sonically excellent spaces. Jeff, an ARB and RIBA chartered architect, has a strong background in designing and delivering projects that balance form and function.

Our Services

At Acoustic Architecture, we offer a bespoke design service that aims to create a musically accurate recording and monitoring environment. Whether you have an existing room or require a new building, we can create a design to suit all spaces. Our team will help control, manage, and shape the soundscape to your requirements.

Our Projects

Some of our notable projects include:

  • Queen Anne's School New Music Centre: We worked as part of a design team to help deliver this project, which included the full acoustic design and specifying the design, layout, shape, and size of all new rooms.
  • Newton Prep Music Centre Refurbishment: We completed several projects at Newton Prep, including works on their existing recital hall and recording studio, as well as converting several spaces into a multi-use music classroom.
  • Private Studio Recording and Practice Room: This practice room was designed and constructed within a private dwelling and required a high level of acoustic design due to its location on the second floor and use for drumming.
