Tate Stevenson Architects

Tate Stevenson Architects, a distinguished firm based in Moira, Northern Ireland, was founded in 1992 by John Tate. With a decade of experience in a Belfast-based multidisciplinary practice, John Tate along with Chris Stevenson, who joined the practice in 1994, aimed to provide clients with a professional, client-focused service that delivered high-quality design within the constraints of budget and programme. The practice has since grown and developed, expanding into purpose-built offices in 2002 and becoming a limited company in 2005.

In 2006, the practice established its Omagh office, managed by Colin McCaffrey, who joined the practice in 1997 and was made a director in 2005. The practice has relocated to Moira, Co. Down, and continues to grow and evolve, aiming to expand its client base and portfolio to include commercial, industrial, educational, and private housing developments, as well as social housing.

Senior Staff

*Chris Stevenson, Consultant*: Chris Stevenson is a chartered architect with over 30 years of experience. As one of the founding members of Tate Stevenson Architects, he has been the director in charge of many large and complex projects within the leisure, commercial, and community sectors.

*Colin McCaffrey, Director*: Colin McCaffrey has been a chartered architect since 1997 and became a director at Tate Stevenson Architects in 2005. Colin has a wide range of experience in most architectural sectors, from higher-level education projects carried out for Queens University Belfast to various high-profile industrial, commercial, community, and residential projects throughout Ireland and the UK. In 2010, Colin became the practice RIBA conservation registered architect and has since completed projects at several listed buildings.

*Ashley Burns, Senior Technician*: Ashley Burns was educated in South Africa as a technical architect and relocated to the UK, where he has developed his architectural, technical, interdisciplinary, construction management, and interface leadership skills over a 29-year career. Ashley has a wide range of experience from single residential dwellings to multi-million commercial schemes and regeneration master planning.
