Designing gardens that inspire and connect you with nature.
Julie Toll has been designing gardens in the UK and abroad since 1982, gaining international recognition by winning 7 gold and 2 silver medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show. Her lifelong interest in the natural world lies at the core of her design philosophy. She has always had a deep passion for gardens and horticulture, training at Pershore College of Horticulture specialising in trees and shrubs before studying to become a garden designer at the English Gardening School. Her inspiration has been garnered from a deep knowledge of plants and natural materials, always working with the environment in a sustainable way.
Julie's work has been featured on television, radio, and in magazines such as Gardens Illustrated, The English Garden, and Homes and Gardens. She is a fellow of the Society of Garden Designers. Julie works with clients whose needs range from gardens designed from scratch for new houses to reworking established gardens that have become tired and dull. Many of her clients return to her for repeat commissions because of her attention to detail. She has a willingness to work with them at every turn, even travelling abroad with clients to choose hard landscaping material.
Julie's recent garden designs include a country estate in Lincolnshire, a semi-rural property in Hertfordshire, and a highly stylised contemporary garden in London. She strives to ensure that her gardens give interest throughout the year so that they look as striking in winter as they do at the height of summer. In the last fifteen years, Julie has been working regularly in Nevis, a small island in the Caribbean, collaborating with her partner, the experienced landscape architect and garden designer Ian Kitson.
